Taking a screenshot with your iPhone is one of the most basic activities that a new iOS user should become familiar with. In this brief tutorial, we show you how to take a screenshot with your iPhone, and where to find the screenshot once you’ve taken it.
How to take a screenshot in iOS
To take a screenshot with your iPhone, simply press the Home button (the circle button on the bottom of the iPhone) and the Sleep button (the button that turns the screen off) at the same time and release. Upon doing so, you will hear a screenshot sound (if your volume is up) and see a flash on the screen to indicate that the screenshot was successful.
Be sure to watch our hands-on video below as we walk you through the process.
Where to find screenshots on iPhone
You can find your screenshot by opening the stock Photos app, and scrolling to the bottom of the Photos tab.
You will also be able to find Screenshots taken via the dedicated Screenshot album within the Photos app. To find this album, open the Photos app, tap the Albums tab, and locate the Screenshots album.
Inside, you will find a collection of all of the screenshots taken with your iPhone. This is especially handy when you’re looking for a particular screenshot that you captured in the past.

If you’re looking to merge multiple screenshots together, then have a look at LongScreen, an app that makes it easy to combine screenshots and clean up the status bar. You can find more coverage on LongScreen in our post here highlighting how to take better Apple Watch screenshots.
