The Winter Olympics 2018 begin tonight with the opening ceremony on Friday 9th February at 6AM ET/3AM PT, broadcast from Pyeongchang in the Olympics’ host nation of South Korea. Some events (mixed doubles curling, figure skating and ski-jumping) have already begun, or will kick off before the ceremony actually starts, but if you want to see the flag parade and that Olympic flame being lit, you’ll either need to stay up late or get up early.

This year the Winter Olympics will run from the 9th to the 25th of February, with the closing ceremony taking place at 6AM ET/3AM PT on Friday, February 2th. The events are alpine skiing, biathlon, bobsleigh, cross-country skiing, curling, figure skating, freestyle skating, ice hockey, luge, Nordic combined skiing, short track speed skating, skeleton, ski jumping, snowboard and speed skating.

Here’s how you can stream the Winter Olympics 2018 online in North America and the U.K.

In the U.S.

If you live in the U.S., watching the Winter Olympics 2018’s opening ceremony online is actually a better option than watching it on TV, since the TV broadcast is delayed by 14 hours. You can watch the Olympics live on the NBC Olympics website or on the NBC Sports mobile app. However, you’ll need a cable login in order to watch - either from your cable company, or from TV services like Hulu, PlayStation Vue, or YouTube TV. Unfortunately there is no legal way to stream the Olympic games for free in the U.S.

In Canada

If you live in Canada, you can stream the Winter Olympics 2018 live for free on the CBC website. You will need a Canadian IP address in order to access the stream.

In the U.K.

If you live in the U.K., watching the Olympics is easy. Just head over to the BBC Sport website, where the games are being streamed live. Since the broadcast is direct via the website, rather than through BBC iPlayer, you do not need a TV licence to watch the live-stream. However, you will need a TV licence to watch any coverage of the Winter Olympics (live or otherwise) on iPlayer.

To find out when to watch your favorite Winter Olympics event is taking place, head on over to the Pyeongchang 2018 website, where you can look at the competition schedule, the daily schedule, and also filter events by your country of choice - so you know when to tune in and root for the home team.

Let the games begin!
