How To Speed Up Building In Minecraft

Many players wonder how they can build houses faster in Minecraft. Now once you have the resources, the process of building an infrastructure comes into play. But the continuous process of selecting a block from the Hotbar and placing it in an appropriate position can be tiresome for some people.

So here in this article, we will take a look at a third-party application MCEdit that will help speed up the entire process. Here we have included everything that you need to know from installation to using the app.

How to speed up the building?

Installing and launching MCEdit:

Download the latest version from their home website. Go ahead and install it as you do with any software. After the installation, launch the application, and you will see two lists of options. Here you need to look at only two options on the left menu, “Create New World” and “Quick Load.” Create a new world will create a new Minecraft world for you to build up, and Quick load will simply load one of your Minecraft worlds. However, remember not to keep the actual Minecraft application running in the background, or else MCEdit will simply crash down.

The interface in MCEdit is a bit different than what you are used to in the real game. Here W, S, A, D will move up, down, left and right. By using left navigation, right navigation, Up navigation, Down navigation keys, and I, J, K, and L, you can look around you. Pressing the Space button will take the view upwards while pressing the Shift button will bring it down. It is like how we fly in Minecraft.

Selecting:

There will be a toolbar at the bottom of your screen. Click on the first option, and it allows you to choose two blocks for region selection. Click at two positions after clicking on this block on the toolbar, and the entire region between these two blocks will be selected. The two chosen boxes will appear in yellow and blue highlighted colors. You can use the Nudge option to modify the region more precisely by moving the blocks piece by piece.

Modifying:

Next, when it comes to modification, we will use the options we see on the left side of the screen. First, we have Nudge again, which will move the entire blocks in the region as opposed to what we saw before, where selectively blocks could be chosen. If anything goes wrong, you can still undo it, though. The second option we see is Deselect, and as the name suggests, it only clears the selections. Next, we have select chunks that simply select a bunch of blocks all together for you. After that, there are Delete blocks, Delete Title Ticks and Delete Entities, which will simply delete all these blocks that you have selected from your Minecraft World. Next on the list, we have Analyze, which will give you all the information about the blocks that you have selected in your region.

After that, we come to the more useful options, copy, cut, paste, and export. Copying will simply copy the blocks that you have under selection, and choosing the cut option will remove it from there and will be ready to be moved to a new area of your preference. The paste is what you will choose after copying or cutting a specific area of your infrastructure. The export option will copy the structure you have selected as an additional file, which you can later send to your friend if he wants to have a similar infrastructure like the one you have built. He will have to use the paste option here too. The export option will come in handy when you want to send an entire infrastructure over to your friend.

When you choose the paste option, you will see a different menu with a bunch of other options that have a function of their own. Pressing E, R, F, and G keys will rotate, roll, flip, and mirror your selection. Without touching the keyboard keys, you can do the same by clicking on the options on the menu itself. There are some additional toggles too, but the one that you need to take a look at is the import option. It is the option you need to select if you are trying to import an infrastructure that your friend has sent to you as an exported file.

Brushing:

Under the brush option, you will find a fill brush that will quickly fill up blocks or regions by painting blocks in the shape of spheres and squares.

Filtering:

This is where you can make mass changes to your world. You can use filters that are available for download from the application’s community. For example, there is a filter called Forest that adds several trees to any selected region of your world. You can try other filters too and see for yourself which are the ones you want to keep. There is always the option of Undo if anything goes wrong. The process of filtering is a bit more complicated than all that we have discussed before, but it is the game-changing feature of this application.
